250-Mile Washington Road Trip | Republic, Tonasket, Oroville & the Ghost Town of Molson #RoadtripWA

Come along on a 250-mile road trip through northeastern Washington State as we explore some of the most interesting small towns and hidden places in Ferry and Okanogan Counties.

This journey begins near Grand Coulee Dam, traveling north along Highway 21 through Keller before reaching the historic mining town of Republic. From there we continue to Wauconda, where we discover an abandoned early homestead and some forgotten roadside history before heading north to Tonasket, Oroville, and finally the fascinating ghost town of Molson.

One of the highlights of this trip is the beautiful but unfinished John Pflug House, begun in 1908 and abandoned over a century ago. We'll also stop at one of the area's unique roadside eateries before continuing our journey through some of Washington's most scenic landscapes.

Soap Lake, Washington: The Amazing Story of America's Forgotten Healing Resort #SoapLake

 

 

For decades, thousands of people traveled to the small town of Soap Lake, Washington, hoping its unique mineral waters could cure everything from arthritis to psoriasis. During the early 1900s, luxurious hotels, bath houses, sanitariums, restaurants, and dance halls transformed this quiet Columbia Basin community into one of America's most famous health resorts. 

In this documentary, we explore the fascinating history of Soap Lake—from its creation by the catastrophic Missoula Floods at the end of the last Ice Age, to its importance to Native Americans, its incredible boom years as a nationally recognized healing destination, and the gradual decline of its resort industry after World War II. 

We'll also visit many of the historic locations that remain today and discover why Soap Lake continues to attract visitors from around the world.

The Grand Coulee Dam became one of the most patriotic places in America on July 4, 2026, as thousands gathered to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday during the annual Festival of America. 

In this video, I'll take you through the festivities before sunset, including the crowds, vendors, entertainment, and the incredible atmosphere surrounding one of Washington State's most iconic landmarks. 

As darkness falls, enjoy the spectacular laser light show followed by one of the most unique fireworks displays in America—launched directly from the top of Grand Coulee Dam.

Join me as I explore the historic downtown of Cheney, Washington, one of the oldest incorporated towns in eastern Washington. 

Founded alongside the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1880, Cheney quickly grew from a small railroad depot into a thriving community. During this walking tour, we'll stroll through the historic downtown, admire century-old brick buildings, learn about the devastating 1891 fire that nearly changed the town's future, and discover how the railroad helped shape this community into what it is today.
